Welcome to the Montana State Electrical Board

The State Electrical Board makes every effort to include on this website all relevant information pertaining to the licensing and regulation of electricians in Montana.

ATTENTION LICENSEES:

Electrical Licensees: renewal cycle is open May 17 and closes on July 15, 2024. Renewal fees are abated 75%; licensees are required to pay a minimal fee for this renewal cycle. 

Reminder: Licensees must complete 16 hours of continuing education as outlined in ARM 24.225.2102.

*Important to Note*

The department is no longer printing and mailing hard card licenses. The department is offering the option to download the license on your mobile device and or print the license for physical carry. 

As of June 10, 2022, the State of Montana has adopted the 2020 NFPA 70 (2020 NEC), the 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code (2021 UPC), the 2021 International Existing Building Code, the 2021 International Mechanical Code, the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code, the 2021 International Building Code, the 2021 International Residential Code, and the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.  Official versions of these administrative rules will not be available until published by the Secretary of State.  Click the button to check for Updated Publishing.
